Dick Bailey

In 1981, Dick Bailey moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, to develop Desert Highlands with partner Jim Bartlett.  Dick's history as a golf course developer began in Vail, Colorado, where he and local partners developed Singletree, a golf course residential development located in Edwards, Colorado, which continues to enjoy a stellar reputation among mountain developments.  The success of Desert Highlands as one of Arizona's premier private residential golf course developments and home to the first “Skins Game,” led Bailey and Bartlett to move north to Flagstaff to develop Forest Highlands, another highly-ranked golf course and residential community.

Dick's architectural background, combined with working with some of the finest golf course designers in the country, propelled him to try his own hand at golf course design.  In 1991, he opened Dick Bailey Design, Inc.  Some of his most noted golf course design projects include Whitehawk Ranch located in the Sierra Nevadas; The Powder Horn in Wyoming; The Preserve at Saddlebrook in Arizona and The Golf Club Scottsdale, a co-designed golf course with Jay Morrish also located in Arizona. Dick's unique combination of development and golf course design experience positions him to clearly understand the economic viability of golf course residential developments from many perspectives.
